They show the recorded shape of your lot, which is great for getting oriented, but they’re not a substitute for a survey’s pinned corners. Use a surveyor for anything legal.
Why don’t the parcel lines match my fence?
Fences are often installed inside the property line or may have been placed incorrectly years ago. Parcel boundaries represent the recorded lot, while fences are simply physical structures.
